TOPIC: Purchasing Links

Hi,

What do you guys think about purchasing links? I have heard it is a fairly quick way to grow your website? The links must be relavant and related to your site's niche though right?

Purchasing links is a bad idea.

Eventually Google will get wise to what sites sell links (they do it so often they can't help to be detected) and there is a real possibility that they will penalize everyone who they link to.

It is better to build links organically, as it will give you more stable results.

There are blackhat SEO firms that will purchase links for you and will give you extremely good results at first. 6 months to a year later though, you'll suddenly find that your website is kicked out of the search engines altogether. So it isn't viable as a long term strategy.

Thank you for the feedback. I wasn't sure if I should do that or not but I guess now I know. It is great that I can get true feedback here from experienced people.

I wouldn't do it, either. I think there are a lot of other ways that you can put money into helping your site grow than that.

Am I correct in assuming that "trading links" is only a good idea if the content of the sites involved is very closely related?

I wonder how closely related they should be, if that's the case?

Trading links with related sites will definitely help you more than trading links with not related sites.

It is a myth that too many links from unrelated sites can hurt your site. Only links from obvious spam sites can do that.

However, linking out to too many unrelated sites CAN really hurt your site.
